I try not to get to close to my clients at the shelter.. Not that I treat them like stats, I do my job and make them laugh while doing it.. That is MY thing, I am the funny, young and odd social worker chick. As a whole I do believe all the women at the shelter like me, and I know the kids like me, and the teenagers relate to me b/c I am pretty young. Every year or so a client comes along that I throw myself into.

Her name for legal issues will be "mandy". Mandy is an addict, a HARDCORE one at that. Mandy LOVES crack like it is oxygen. Mandy is also sweet, funny and smart. I've been working with her for a few weeks now, I've been dealing with her file even on my days off. Calling treatment centres all over ontario from my cell phone (feb's cell bill is gonna be scary) and got her a phone interview at one of the BEST treatment centres in Canada. I had to beg favours to get her in. But by last Thursday the phone interview was booked for the Monday that just passed. Well last Friday she left the shelter... I am so upset. I really thought she wanted to get clean. but I know she buys/uses in my neighbourhood.. I realy hope I run into her. I am gonna call her ODSP worker tomorrow to find out what is up. How many rock bottoms does she need?
